Good morning all
Thank you to all the boats who took part and everybody who came to spectate at this year’s Sail Past. We had our fingers and toes crossed right up to the last minute, hoping for the change from Red Boards to Yellow and we were rewarded with the good news on Saturday that we could go ahead. We were also blessed with some lovely sunshine and it felt good to see everyone enjoying the day. In this most difficult of times, I believe it uplifted all of our spirits to be part of this important tradition.
Personally, this day was the highlight of my year and a memory that I will cherish forever, so thank you all.
It is with sadness, but probably no surprise, I have to inform you that this year’s Annual Dinner Dance has been cancelled. On the upside, the venue at The Bull Hotel has been rebooked for next year, with the confidence that we will be back to something resembling normal life and you can’t keep a good club down!
The committee have been working hard behind the scenes to facilitate the clubhouse to reopen. We have risk assessed with every change in legislation and we are confident that we have all the processes in place in readiness for opening. However, with the increase in Covid numbers locally and the possibility of new restrictions under the new Tier system, we have come to the decision not to open at this time. We will revisit this decision in the New Year and will keep the membership informed accordingly.
I sincerely hope that the New Year will bring better news for us all and I remain positive that things will improve.
Please stay safe and well.
Warm wishes,
Karen Weight
