Annual Dinner Dance 21 November 2015

The Annual Dinner is a premier event in the Club’s programme and this year we had
yet another excellent turn out with 138 members and guests attending the Crowne
Plaza, Marlow.
The function room looked magnificent with the table centrepieces of tall Martini
glasses delicately adorned with uplighters of blue with crystals and tealights. The
colour theme for the evening was the Club’s colours and Christine from Joker
provided the top table flowers which looked amazing.
The Commodore welcomed everyone and wished them all a pleasant evening. He
added that sadly there were some members who were not able to attend due to ill
health including two Past Commodores, Vedantee Williams and David Maurice
and requested everyone to drink to absent friends. Vince announced that it was Lise
Frilund’s 80th birthday on that day. He added that Lise is a founder member having
joined in the mid 70s and was Commodores lady for two years in the early 80s. She
has continued to support the events throughout this time and is known for being a
“dynamo” on the dance floor with an endless amount of energy. The Commodore
presented Lise with a bouquet of flowers from TWYC.
Our new Toastmaster, Bill Barr did an excellent job of managing the usual formalities
of the evening with speeches and toasting’s which this year were kept to a minimum
to allow more time for dancing. John Forsaith gave his speech which was a “Vote
of Thanks”. John’s speech was as always very humorous and informative.
The chef did us proud again this year and many members have subsequently
commented on the excellent choice and quality of the delicious menu.
The Commodore, ably assisted by Terry and Martin, presented the following
trophies and plaques to those members who had won our various competitions as
well as the special awards for achievement and service to the Club and two extra
special awards.
The Illuminated Cruise Trophy awarded to the best illuminated boat at the

The raffle this year was organised and by Colin and Jayne (Tipsy Mouse) and there
were excellent prizes to be won. Jayne no doubt had been driving a hard negotiating
bargain for some of the prizes.
The Band for the evening were “The O’Fenders” and were a lively band with the
second session presenting a Blues brothers tribute. The last session saw the dance
floor full with members and guests dancing for the rest of the night until 0100. Lise
was still going strong and dancing until the wee hours!!!
A special vote of thanks must be given to our Commodore and his lady for
everything undertaken in order to make the evening such a resounding success.
