The Commodores Party and Sunday's club sail past
Good morning members
What a fantastic weekend!
The Commodores Party and Sunday's club sail past were a total success.
The Party on Saturday saw 100 members enjoying the fantastic food prepared by Dawn, Anne and a wonderful team of willing helpers.
The club was decorated throughout with blue lights and seaside trinkets including the most fantastic table decoration hand made by Lorraine.
Many members chose to dress for the "seaside / nautical" theme and what a sight we all were.
There are lots of pictures on the TWYC Facebook site and Ian will put some on to our own website when he gets a moment or two. We sung and danced well in to the night.
On Sunday morning 31 of our boats left the marina to cruise up river to Bray and turn to sail past the club in bright sunshine and to the sounds of "The Yacht Club Four" playing trad jaz on our decking.
This was a truly emotional event for Linda and me, we raised our glass to each passing club boat in salute and wiped away the odd tear from time to time.
Joker and Elaina who are currently cruising in the West Country dressed overall and sent us a long distance salute. Our deepest thanks go to them for a lovely tribute.
We want to personally thank Terry & Lorraine, Dawn & Anne and everyone who helped to make this important club weekend so special.
Congratulations to Roy & Sheila on Trotwood for winning the "best kept boat" trophy.
It was good to see Harry Chessun (92 years old) in the club and even better to see him present the trophy. The trophy was originally created by Harry many years ago so it was great that he could be with us on the Sunday to present it to the winners.
Most of all we thank everyone who came along and took part over the weekend.
Tradition, friendship and comeradery are just a few of the many reasons our club is so successful.
Vince & Linda
